Happy 2012!!

With 2011 put to bed, I am really looking forward to seeing what 2012 holds!

So far, my brides are booking way ahead of time and there are a couple of TV and film projects in the pipeline but there are some really exciting developements around my relationship with The Pauline Quirke Academy which I should be able to reveal in the next few weeks. Keep your eyes peeled for updates!

In the meantime, I am embarking on the challenge to work off the mince pies I indulged in over Christmas. Wish me luck!

The Zombie King

Its a wrap and I’m back!

Its taken me a few days to get myself adjusted to London living after spending 3 weeks in Sommerset whilst working on the feature The Zombie King.

The film stars Corey Feldman and Ed Furlong as well as a myriad of talented actors and was an absolute pleasure to be part of. Id like to take this opportunity to mention what an extraordinary crew were on board – every single one worked their socks off to complete what was, without a doubt a mammouth task!!

The Zombie King is scheduled for release in August 2012.

Halloween Fright Night

I have been having a blast over the last few months running special effects masterclasses for the students of The Pauline Quirke Academys around the country. Most recently, the Principal from Southend has asked me to take part in a Halloween Fright Night at one of the UK’s most haunted locations – Coalhouse Fort! I will be recreating Reagan’s makeup from the horror classic – The Exorcist – as well as overseeing other SFX makeups. I have to admit to being slightly anxious as despite loving SFX, horror films give me the heeby-geebies!

If you wish to be frightened out of your wits on for halloween, the event will be taking part over 2 nights at Coalhouse Fort, East Tilbury, Essex RM18 8PB on 28th and 29th October from 6.30pm to 9.30pm. Entry fees for the tour are £6 for adults and £3 for children.

I look forward to seeing you there – I’ll be the one with makeup brushes, quaking in my boots!!!

Exciting Times……

August has been an extremely busy month and whilst many were enjoying a relaxing bank holiday weekend, I was working my magic on some beautiful brides and their family and friends. I am really looking forward to receiving some of the professional prints and uploading them to the site.

Yesterday I attended the screening of the film I worked on – ‘The Long March to Freedom’ – at BAFTA and was humbled to meet some of the actual POW’s who survived the ordeal. The documentary is scheduled to be shown in 3 parts on the Yesterday channel (Sky 537) from the 10th November 2011.

I am now looking forward to a few days off before collaborating with a friend and fellow makeup artist designing and carrying out a bridal bodypaint for an exciting ITV project. Check back regularly for more updates – in the meantime, I’m off to catch up on some well earned relaxation!!

The Long March to Freedom

I’ve just received my invite to the premier screening of The Long March to Freedom at BAFTA in August. I was thrilled to be asked to be part of this documentary as it challenged my makeup skills as well as telling an interesting and harrowing account of strength and endurance during World War II. The documentary is due to be screened on the Yesterday channel on Sky in the near future so I will keep you all posted when dates are confirmed.

Busy, busy busy!

With the Vintage at Southbank festival at the end of the month I am beavering away finishing the blogs and articles for Hemingway Design (www.vintagebyhemingway.co.uk/blogs). Yesterday’s article published in the Sunday Observer was a piece of ghost writing that was both challenging and fun to put together, and reminded me just how much I love writing! You can check out the article on line at – www.guardian.co.uk under the culture section - 10-best-british-youth-cultures.  Enjoy!!

Welcome to the new site!

It’s taken a while to get it organised, but the new site is finally live!! Hooray! With wedding season in full swing I have been airbrushing brides all over London in the last few weeks as well as planning makeup designs for several upcoming shoots but I have some exciting stuff up my sleeve for the site so keep your eyes peeled over the coming weeks.

Also, check out Chick Fix on Sky Living next Tuesday at 9pm (19th July) where I worked as a behind the scenes makeup artist in addition to assisting the fabulous celebrity makeup artist Kevin Fortune.
